I first read this on the Agonist, but couldn't log on for some reason. I kinda like ol' Clint & have an alternate version of reality. The "cut throat," an old Hollywood sign to "cut it out" could have been to stop the applause, not a homework assignment for the teaparty types in attendance.
Remember, also, that Eastwood's something of a libertarian. I imagine he was somewhat pissed at how Ron Paul was so shabbily treated. Judge his "you don't have to vote" for someone just to avoid feeling guilty in that context.
He's talking to folks who wouldn't vote for Obama even if OL&S Jesus Christ descended in clouds of glory to endorse the Democratic ticket.
But how many folks in the hall are deeply and truly in love with the Romney ticket?
Also, Eastwood's performance cut into Romney's prime-time dog&pony show -- not a bad result, even if not planned.
