You liked my verse about Rupert Murdoch. Maybe you will also like the following:
I wrote the last one at the request of a Mark Labinov (he writes as Mark Sashine), who saw some of my verses on line and told me he is a Russian Jew and long-time U.S. citizen living in New York. He set me the challenge of writing about “our (U.S.) so-called ‘leaders’”. I am Irish so I think I am well qualified to write about them.

124. Hillary Keeps on Flying
Secretary of State Clinton is always on the go
but exactly why no-one seems to know.
When she sees a nation on a map a trip cannot be resisted
and she’s been to some few even knew existed.
Because she did not want to be left at the gate
she had to beat Secretary Albright’s total of 98.
She is now up to number one hundred and two
And members of her exhausted entourage are threatening to sue.
In Cleopatra’s land Hillary proved she’s brave
by telling the Egyptians how to behave.
So no-one was surprised on hearing the news
that they pelted her with tomatoes and shoes.
Before visiting Greece one can only conjecture
she was advised about democracy the Greeks not to lecture.
Could someone persuade the Secretary to her home country travel
and try the unholy mess there to unravel?
What a triumph for Secretary Clinton it would be
if she could clean up Congress in Washington, D.C.
Meanwhile, shouldn’t those who about her claim to care
tell Hillary for heaven’s sake to cut her hair?

125. An Upside Down World (Haaretz, Jewish newspaper)
The U.S. maintains a Middle East theocracy
is the region’s one and only democracy.
But can anyone believe reasonable Israelis wish their country harm
when they compare it to Orwell’s animal farm?
In a land where all are meant to be brothers
some are much more equal than the others.
The Haradim cause the Prime Minister´s worst headache
and on them he would like to put a brake.
Although growing like weeds they are still a minority
who claim to be their country’s ultimate authority.
They decline to engage in any tiresome chores,
especially when it comes to fighting wars.
Can anyone be found to lend a hand to Netanyahu
just as Marissa Mayer was enlisted to rescue Yahoo?
Benjamin could do with some assistance
to help him overcome his nemeses’ obstinate resistance.
In Jerusalem the Ultras attack young women if and when
they walk on the same side of the street as men.
They assault them if they don’t like their clothes
only adding to the P.M.’s woes.
Their remarkable ability to reproduce
threatens to cook the poor guy’s goose.
If Samson’s strength really was in his hair
do the Haridim get theirs from the ringlets they wear?
While their mischief may leave Bibi vexed
outsiders admit they are perplexed.
If keeping the sexes apart is among Ultraorthodox habits
how is it they are able to multiply like rabbits?

126. Romney: An Incurable Case of Foot-in-Mouth
Republican candidate Romney drew up a travel trip
to prove on world affairs he has a grip.
To show he can be presidential
and persuade voters he has a foreign policy credential.
If Mitt believes about what happens abroad U.S. voters care a bag of beans
he should go and tell that to the marines.
Their concerns are about events in the U.S. of A.
so they question why he chose to go away.
They are worried at what he might do as Head of State
and wonder why he’s taking so long to name a running mate.
When news got out of his three-country visits plan
most assumed he’d be going to places like India, China and Japan.
But no, Mitt thought it would be more fun
to tell the Brits how the Olympic Games they should run.
When he became aware of his clumsy blunder
he learned how British politicians and media can tear a chap asunder.
So it is no wonder London did not strike up the band
To hail the Wimp from Nowhere Land.
He quickly decided to Israel to go and put on a shawl
to pray before the Wailing Wall.
In that country Mitt proved he really has not got a clue
by annoying both the Israelis and the Palestinians too.
Let us hope he was by his people advised
Not to ask Netanyahu how many more dead Jews he wanted as Mormons to be baptized.
Even his handlers were in the dark about what he hoped to gain
by visiting Poland as part of his campaign.
One guy lamented that his boss had totally lost control
when he said he wanted to convert every negative poll.
Back home Mitt decided the lower classes to woo
by proving like them he’s a regular guy too.
He said in the Olympics his wife with her horse Rafalca would hold the fort
by competing in dressage, that popular working-class sport.
When they learned Rafalca costs 77,000 dollars a year to keep
those struggling to get by on food stamps could only weep.
Meantime, in the U.S. the bookies are licking their chops
as they take bets on the would-be president’s next malapropos.

127. Romney’s V.P. – An Echo of His Master’s Voice
No more speculation about who it will be
now that Romney has finally named his presidential V.P.
The noise heard was a collective groan
when Mitt announced in choosing Paul Ryan he had picked a clone.
When Paul agrees with Mitt that money given to the wealthy to the poor trickles down
does he know he’s quoting a phrase coined by a clown?
Humorist Will Rogers used the expression
to try to raise the people’s spirits during the Depression.
Today like Romney the affluent place their ill-gotten gains
in off-shore accounts in places where it seldom rains.
And where the tax man is so kind
that when they pay few, if any, taxes he does not mind.
Paul is another who laps up Ayn Rand’s skewed philosophy with unbounded admiration
and says for him it has always been an inspiration.
He agrees that giving to those in need is tommyrot
for one should always give to those who’ve got.
When he announces his plans for benefits like food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid
one can only wonder what he’s imbibing with his lemonade.
Does he really expect voters to place their trust
in someone who believes prices paid by the poor do not rise but simply adjust?
Donald Trump, Ryan’s supporter and infamous birther,
described by some as a Middle-Earther,
admonished him for announcing his budget plan
before the election was in the can.
Better to wait, he said, and not yet about his ideas brag
or he’d risk letting his cat out of the bag.
And Rupert Murdoch, that Antipodean epitome of fair play and straight dealing ,
agree s for America Mitt’s and Ryan’s plans are the most appealing.
Paul is advised by Cheney who, by some magical black art,
was finally able to acquire a heart.
Is Mitt’s sidekick thankful to receive words of cheer
from the most notorious war profiteer?
If he’s taking lessons from Dick about how animals to kill
he should remember that shooting is not his friend’s greatest skill.
Paul should never consider inviting him on a deer hunting trip
or letting him on any kind of weapon get a grip.
As to Rush Limbaugh, to reject The Blob’s blessing Paul would be wise
since his massive Viagra doses never helped him to any occasion rise.
Meanwhile Romney, by introducing Ryan as the next U.S. president with a ringing shout
shows he is still suffering from a serious case of foot-in-mouth.
When in the U.K. Mitt boasted that the Anglo-Saxons were the cream of the crop
in three of the Kingdom’s countries a penny could be heard to drop.
In Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales exasperation was felt
by each and every inhabitant who takes pride in being known as a Celt.
As we witness the continuing pre-election drama
there is one thing where no-one can deny Paul Ryan beats Barack Obama.
But the President will probably shed no tears
when he hears Paul declare he is the one who has the bigger ears.
*****
As for me, I make no apology
for not being taken in by Romney’s harebrained Mittology.

128. A Center for Disease Control Case
No-one who listens to them can be in any doubt
that Romney and side-kick Ryan suffer from foot-in-mouth.
It’s now obvious among the Republican ranks the disease is spreading fast
as Todd Akin’s comment hit us like an Arctic blast.
He wants the whole abortion discussion to reshape
by presenting himself as an authority on rape.
A victim, he assures us, who is suffering a sexual assault,
to the flow of unwelcome sperm can put a halt.
Does he think a women being sexually assaulted should not be annoyed
because it is something to be enjoyed?
Now even good friends like Paul Ryan are raising fears
about what Todd might have between his ears.
Would he step up to the plate and tell us please
where he acquired his expertise?
Had he been gulping a bit too much toddy
when he claimed a victim is able to shut down her body?
A fact he said came from doctors he did not name
and in telling that lie he showed not a sign of shame.
His Master of Divinity Degree in his faith’s particular theology
hardly qualifies him as an expert on biology.
He is being urged not to run for a Senate seat to be elected
a plea he has very firmly rejected.
So now the voters in his district must be his judge and jury
and how they vote will tell us a lot about Missouri.
Any woman who sees a photo of his feral eyes and mouth shut tight
wouldn’t want to meet him alone on any dark night.
If confronted with such an apparition she’d be glad
if she could flee the scene and run like mad.

129. Welcome to Cloud Cuckoo Land
Anyone trying to describe the cloud cuckoo land our political leaders inhabit
risks falling down the same hole as Alice’s rabbit.
It is a place where everything is so askew
one wonders if they are imbibing their very own brew.
Because voters must make an effort to understand
what happens in that godforsaken land,
let us take as an example the Republican presidential convention
that attracted the whole world’s bemused attention.
Although their candidates had been selected beforehand,
thousands gathered in Tampa to strike up the band,
while millions remained glued to their TV
to learn who the keynote speaker would be.
As they watched they thought in syrup they would smother
by being told how every Republican loves his or her mother.
Then they waited with breath that was bated
to be assured that love was reciprocated.
Although to many Mitt Romney comes across as an automaton
as a future president he is the Republican Party’s chosen one.
Among his handlers there were signs of tension
as they worked on winding him up for their Convention.
That he exemplifies a U.S. leader political
explains why so many of the American system are critical.
The many faux pas he committed on his disastrous overseas trip
demonstrates on reality he hasn’t got a grip.
He began by promising voters their lives would improve
if tax cuts for him and his fellow multi-millionaires they would approve.
His own tax returns produce he did not
for one cannot deliver what one has not got.
Food stamps, he said, should not be tolerated
and those who claim them should be berated.
While about his love for his country he continued to brag
he attended his shindig on a yacht flying the Cayman Islands flag.
He claims all women he respects
and insists he loves the fairer sex.
Maybe that is something on which Mitt should not dwell
as we know it’s a Mormon custom to love their women a tad too well.
Paul Ryan spewed so many what the Brits call pork pies
not even Fox News could accept all his lies.
As he went on and on with his mindless chatter
it was clear to the altar boy the truth does not matter.
He again lauded his heroine Ayn Rand
although his praise now seems to have got out of hand.
The poor guy alas has been deceived
by thinking avowed atheist Ayn in his God believed.
Chris Christie said Romney’s platform he supported
but unkind folk complained it was the platform that for him had to be supported.
Now expectations were rising as the time drew near
for the principal speaker to appear.
At last all anxiety was put to rest
when they brought out their very best.
Was Clint Eastwood’s choice by those responsible relented
when he came out looking like he was demented?
It did not help when he kept on talking to an empty chair
and was the only one who could see and hear the man who was not there.
Those who hoped for some sane words at the very least
instead had to listen to the specter at the feast.
The Republicans can claim as their own Todd Akin who brags he’s the expert on rape
making one wonder from what loony bin they let him escape.
He is backed by Tom Smith, Senate candidate from Pennsylvania,
Who displayed a serious case of megalomania.
His claim is there’s no difference between an unwed woman who is with child
and a rape victim who has been defiled.
As the faithful around their heroes rally
Don’t they realize they are all suffering from the incurable disease of anencephaly?
